Responsible for several courts including: Circuit Civil and Criminal Courts, General Sessions Civil and Criminal Courts, Juvenile Civil and Criminal. Through General Sessions, the office processes Civil lawsuits up to $25,000 along with Orders of Protection, divorces and child support.

In General Sessions Criminal the office handles DUI, driving on a revoked license, assaults/domestic complaints, drug charges, and traffic tickets for county and city officers.

In Circuit Civil, the office has lawsuits over $25,000 from auto accidents, condemnation suits, breach of contacts and child support.

Criminal Court cases are bound over from General Sessions Court, and they also do presentments to the Grand Jury. The Circuit Court Clerk's Office also processes filings from the prison that lead to Appeal Cases, which involves the office doing a technical record on each case appealed to the Court of Circuit/Criminal Appeals. Juvenile Court consists of petitions for child custody, Department of Children's Services' filings, and child support. Juvenile Criminal cases are traffic, truancy, and unruly/delinquent.

The office also issues subpoenas and capias in most of the courts and abstracts to the state on unpaid traffic tickets. The office collects fines and costs and restitutions on cases in all courts and makes daily deposits in all three courts. At the end of each month, staff closes out all courts by paying monies to the state, county, officer costs, clerk fees and restitution. The Circuit Court Clerk is elected to a four-year term.
